About the KEP
What is the KEP?
The Knowledge Exchange Platform brings bioeconomy knowledge together in one place: documents and videos, free online training, news and events, partner search and funding opportunities. It is run by Geonardo Environmental Technologies Ltd. (GEO) as part of the EU-funded BIO-INSPIRE project.
Does it cost anything? Do I need an account?
No and no. Everything on the KEP is free and open to all. You only register on the e-learning platform and on the tools from other projects that we link to.
What are the eight themes?
The eight thematic Communities of Practice of BIO-INSPIRE: Agriculture and Forestry; Urban Biowaste; Industrial Biowaste; Bio-based Products and Processes; Digital Tools; Funding for the Bio-based Economy; Policies; and Regional Knowledge Transfer Programmes.
Sharing content
Do I need to hold the rights?
Yes. You confirm in the form that you hold the rights, or have the rights holder’s permission.
Can my event be listed on the KEP?
Send the title, date, time, format, a short description and the registration link to [GEO contact email], and our team will consider it.
Training, the CCN and alerts
How do I earn the Certificate of Mastery?
Complete the four BIO-INSPIRE training modules on the e-learning platform, where the certificate is issued. The train-the-trainer programme has its own certificate.
Who can join the CCN, and how?
Any organisation working in or with the bioeconomy, through the Join the CCN form. Membership is free and voluntary.
How do funding alerts work?
Sign up with your email, choose themes if you like, and confirm through the link we send you. Every alert has an unsubscribe link.
For funded Open Call subprojects
What happens after selection?
You sign a Sub-Grant Agreement and attend the mandatory kick-off meeting (January 2027). The subproject runs for six months: a Plan Phase ending with an R&I Plan Report, then an Exchange Phase with a study visit at the host organisation, ending with a Technical Report and a two-year R&I Collaboration Plan.
When are payments made?
The €10,000 grant is paid in three parts: 30% after the kick-off meeting and the signature of the Sub-Grant Agreement, 20% after approval of the R&I Plan Report, and 50% after approval of the Technical Report and the collaboration plan.
Who helps us?
Each subproject has an advisor from the BIO-INSPIRE consortium. For administrative questions, email [GEO contact email]; we aim to reply within two working days.
